DBS application - Digital ID verification process Follow
From Tuesday 14th April 2026, the ECB Disclosures Portal will offer the option for applicants to complete an online, Digital ID verification process, subject to eligibility, rather than the face-to-face ID verification.
A Digital ID check is an online method of verifying an applicant’s identity using secure technology instead of checking physical documents. It allows applicants to prove who they are quickly and securely during the DBS application process.
When selecting to complete the application with a Digital ID verification, applicants will be presented with the following that outline the process and how information will be checked and processed:

If eligible to proceed, applicants will be prompted to download the Atlantic Data Digital ID app to complete to process:
Once this has been completed, the application will be dispatched to the Disclosure and Barring Service to complete the relevant checks.
