Can I use my ECB DBS in schools or other organisations?

All ECB DBS certificates are issued at Enhanced clearance.

It is entirely down to the school or organisation that you intend to take up employment or activity with as to whether or not they wish to accept your ECB DBS certificate as adequate vetting.

It is not compulsory that they do and in some cases they may require you to be vetted through their own channels.

Please note:

• The certificate is only valid on day of issue
• If your organisation requires confirmation of your ECB DBS status, they can contact the ECB DBS team here, supplying your Full name, Date of Birth and required information. Additionally, they should cc you in to the email request to demonstrate that you have given your consent for us to share this information.
• Volunteers - will have a personal registration to the DBS update service (we just action the initial registration on your behalf). You can log in independently of us to check your certificate status and share that with other organisations.
• Paid applicants - if you have registered your ECB certificate to the DBS Update Service, you can log in independently of us to check your certificate status and share that with other organisations.
