What is the definition of a volunteer? Follow

The Police Act 1997 (Criminal Records) Regulations 2002 defines a volunteer as:

“A Person who is engaged in any activity which involves spending time, unpaid (except for travel and other approved out-of-pocket expenses), doing something which aims to benefit some third party and not a close relative.”

Therefore, if you are in a paid cricketing role, you should apply as a non-volunteer. If you are not in a paid role, you should apply as a volunteer.

See the costs involved in making a DBS application as a non-volunteer here.
