Club Insurance FAQ's Follow
1. What insurance is being offered by ECB?
The ECB is offering all cricket clubs free combined liability insurance upon registration* to the Safe Hands Management System (SHMS).
Your ECB combined liability policy gives you cover for:
Public liability - up to £ 15million (per claim)
Covers accidental bodily injury to third parties and / or damage to third party property arising from incidents at the cricket club (see below for what activities are and are not covered).
Professional liability - up to £10million (per claim and per year)
Professional Indemnity insurance protects coaches for claims arising out of Errors or Omissions in respect of the professional advice that they give whilst coaching.
Safeguarding (abuse) - up to £2million per claim
Abuse cover provides protection for the club against allegations you have failed in your duty to create a safe environment for children or adults at risk.
Property Owner’s liability – up to £15million per claim
Protection against liability arising out of the use, ownership or possession of any club premises.
Directors and Officers liability – up to £2million claim and per year
This policy provides protection for clubs' committee members, directors and trustees if an allegation is made against them that relates to their management of the club.
This is a cricket specific policy that includes coverage for all typical activities in the running of the club, including both:
- playing& training
- social & commercial activities, including when the club hires out its premises.
Cyber Liability up to £50,000
Clubs are protected for up to £50,000 for claims resulting from a data breach, hacking and cyber extortion attacks. Cover for cyber crime is also included for up to £10,000 each loss.
These covers are in force from the date your current Public Liability covers expire. You will not need to renew your current insurance policy and we will send you confirmation of your cover under the ECB policy.
2. When will the policy start?
The policy will will start from your next insurance renewal date and will run for 12 months. It will then renew for the full 12 months thereafter. This will be available by completing your online risk assessment* in the SHMS.
3. My Renewal is not due until a later date, what happens?
Upon registration you will be asked to provide your annual renewal date. We will then contact you 30 day's before renewal to advise that your ECB insurance will start from your Renewal date, ensuring that you are never without cover and you are benefiting from the Free insurance at the earliest opportunity.
4. What is the Risk Assessment?
You will find a link to the Risk Assessment directly from the Safe Hands Management System. It will take you directly into the insurance providers website ‘securely’ where you will be presented with several questions regarding your club. It is important to answer these as fully and honestly as you can. Once completed you will be sent a copy of your report along with help and support regarding any areas identified.
5. What if we fail the assessment?
You can not fail the assessment and your inclusion for the insurance will not be affected by your assessment answers / score and/or your Clubs overall compliance status.
6. I can't access the Risk assessment - nothing is happening when I click on the button?
Please ensure you have completed your Club Information first; Name, Address etc.. This information pulls through when launching your Risk Assessment so you can't access it till this is complete. If you are still having issues, please contact us via the Help link when logged into the system.
7. Does the insurance policy cover buildings & contents?
No, however if you contact Howden they can provide you with a no obligation/competitive quote.
