Update Service - Opting out Follow
When the DBS have issued your ECB DBS Certificate, you will receive an email notification from us. This email will provide information and instruction on how to view your certificate information and will also contain information on how to register your certificate for the DBS Update Service.
If you don't wish to register for the Update Service, there is also an option to confirm your decision to opt out of the service.
If you do opt out of registration to the Update Service and do not consent to annual rechecks then your ECB DBS clearance will expire after the statutory 12 months clearance period, at which point you will need to make a new application if you wish to continue in regulated role/s that require you to hold a valid ECB DBS.
If you already have a subscription to the Update Service for another certificate issued outside of ECB and wish to add your ECB Certificate to this, ECB DBS Team can guide you how to do this once your certificate has been issued.
If you choose to remain registered with the Update Service you will be contacted by the ECB and the DBS directly via email every 12 months requesting you to confirm your status and provide your consent for ECB to carry out a recheck of your certificate to renew your DBS clearance.
As your DBS Update Service account is personally registered to you and sits outside of the ECB's remit, you, as the account holder, will be responsible for keeping the Update Service account up to date and renewing your subscription.
For Paid applicants you will have to pay a fee of £16 per annum and for Volunteers it is free, however everyone will receive an annual email directly from the DBS to confirm renewal of their subscription.
PLEASE NOTE - this does not mean your ECB clearance will automatically be renewed. You will need to complete the annual renewal questionnaire sent to you by ECB Disclosures Portal and confirm renewal of your Update Service subscription for this to proceed.
OPTING OUT - you may choose to opt out at each annual recheck (and deny the status check), in which case you will no longer be eligible to work in Regulated Activity in cricket. If you are happy for the recheck to take place, then once you have completed the renewal questionnaire the check will be scheduled.
We will only contact you if any changes in your circumstances are detected that require clarification or a new application.
