How does the Update Service work?

Once the ECB DBS Certificate has been registered with the Update Service and the applicant has confirmed consent to rechecks and registration via our online portal,  the applicant will be contacted 30 days prior to renewal date to complete a renewal questionnaire and confirm consent to carry out the annual status check.

The status check allows us to see if any relevant information has been identified about the applicant since their certificate was issued / last checked.

The possible outcomes are as follows:

1. No information is revealed and certificate remains current = the certificate is clear and contains no previous offences/convictions or child barring information.
2. Remains current and no further information has been identified = that no new offences/convictions and/or child barring information has been recorded since the original certificate was issued.
3. No longer current = that new information has been revealed and therefore the individual must make a new application & complete vetting checks.
4. No match found = that the check was unsuccessful - normally due to the individual opting out of the update service - a new application would be required if they are still involved in cricket.

Please note only checks relating to criminal offences/convictions and/or the child barring service are picked up during the annual check.
